a 7 day hike along the classic "Sevaggio Blu" trekking route, using the guiding and logistical services provided by the wonderful "Explorando Supramonte" trekking agency (many thanks to them!)
The Selvaggio Blu route has many variants, this is just one of them. None of these routes are signposted nor waymarked, only a few intermittent cairns and some juniper ladders and fixed ropes (very few) show the way from time to time. The Selvaggio Blu can be done without guides only by very experienced groups, but it CANNOT BE DONE WITHOUT LOGISTICAL SUPPORT : there is NO WATER along the way, and you have to carry 100m of rope for the (many) rappels, in addition to the sleeping bags, mattresses and food.
An additional loop stage with spectacular views (departing from and arriving at Cala Biriala) appears in the photo album but does not appear in this recorded track, and the additional stage from Cala Sisine to Cala Gonone has been done in reverse (from north to south) for logistical reasons. This stage is longer in distance, much easier than the Selvaggio Blu proper, but beautiful nonetheless. It can be done separately without a guide or logistical support as Cala Sisine is easily reachable by boat from Cala Gonone. The section from Cala Gonone to Cala Luna is the easiest and the only one which is waymarked with red-white stripes, as are hiking routes everywhere else in Italy
